How to Care for Your Log Furniture
Log furniture has a unique kind of beauty and requires a special kind of care to keep that gorgeous wood shining like new. Once you know the process, it’s easy to take care of your LogHeads collection, just follow a few simple steps.
Here are some ✅ Do’s and ❌ Don’ts to keep your hand-crafted log furniture looking great so your family can enjoy it for generations!
✅ DO: When dusting, you can use slightly damp soft cloths, even a vacuum attachment to remove dust works. We suggest that you not use dusting products if your furniture is unfinished. This could cause wood damage and stain unfinished rustic wood.
❌ DON’T: Let water sit too long! As with any furniture, clean up spills right away. Placemats and coasters are an easy way to protect your tabletops.
✅ DO: If you want to use a cleaner, use a natural one. Just a small amount of vinegar and warm water (1:1 ratio) can brighten up your wood and remove residue. Or, mix one teaspoon of liquid soap into one gallon of water. Use a soft cloth that’s damp, not wet! You don’t want to use too much liquid – a little goes a long way!
❌ DON’T: Let hot items (like pots and pans) have direct contact with the wood. Make sure to use hot pads, trivets, etc to protect these from scorching your beautiful wood surface.
Keep in mind, if your furniture is positioned in direct sunlight, the exposure could bleach the wood.
Outdoor Furniture Care
While cedar outdoor furniture can be finished with an outdoor sealer, keep in mind, cedar naturally resists rot and decay, so finishing is optional. Unfinished cedar will weather to a beautiful silvery-gray that many people love! Here are some tips for preserving your outdoor furniture season after season.
✅ DO: Remove debris by hand-washing with a soft sponge and mild soap.
❌DON’T: Powerwash or heavily scrub outdoor wood furniture! It could damage the wood. However, a light power spray once a year can help bring furniture back to its original look.
